Current situation

Until 1988, only Azerbaijani Turks lived in the village. The first Armenians settled in the village after the genocide of Western Azerbaijanis in 1988.

Aghudi Temple - A tombstone monument located in the village of Aghudi (renamed Aqitu on April 19, 1991) in the district of Qarakilsə (renamed Sisian on March 2, 1940) of the Zangezur region.

This monument, built in the 7th century, stands 9 meters tall. The village of Aghudi has long been the ancestral homeland of Turkic Oghuz tribes.

Until 1988, only Azerbaijani Turks lived in the village. The first Armenians settled in the village after the genocide of Western Azerbaijanis in 1988.
