Gighi tower
35 km northwest of the Gafan district center of Zangazur, in the village of Gighi (Kichik Sofulu, Saralli) in the wide plain where the right branch of the Gighi river meets the Garli river.
The name of the village is adapted to the Armenian language and used as Geghi.
Architecture
Although the castle was destroyed, its remains are still standing.
A castle in the village of Kighi of the current Gafan district, in Zangazur uezd of Yelizavetpol (Ganja) Governorate. It is located 28 km west of the city of Gafan, on the right bank of the Gighi River. As the most important of these monuments, the 10th century Gighi Castle is a brilliant example of medieval Muslim architecture. Although the castle was destroyed, its remains are still standing, the essence of the Gighi castle still exists.
It was formed on the basis of the ethnonym "kighi" of Turkish origin.
