In 1918-1919, as a result of the attack of the Armenian Dashnaks, the village was destroyed and burned, and part of its population was subjected to genocide. The survivors took refuge in Turkey. As a result of this attack, the mosque building, which is considered a holy place, was also burned by Armenians. In the first years of Soviet rule, part of the village population returned to the village and restored the village. In 1950, part of the population of the village was deported, Armenians from abroad were settled in the village. Returning to the village, the Azerbaijani population settled on the south side and built a new mosque there called it Taza mosque. The ruins of Kohna mosque were preserved as a symbol of oppresssion and genocide.
