Current situation

Sulu caravanserai, which is one of the tangible cultural heritages of the ancient city of Iravan, was blown up by the Armenians and other buildings were built in its place.

Information:

The Sulu caravanserai was located in the city of Iravan, and there were 74 shops in and around the caravanserai. In the construction of this caravanserai, baked bricks, hewn ashlar and marble were used. The caravanserai and the shops around it served as a place where the people of the city and the surrounding region came to shop and trade. In some sources, caravanserai is shown as a “Sulu gamchi (whip)”.

Sulu caravanserai was one of the largest among the other caravansaries. The caravanserai was important for merchants coming from outside areas as a place to stay and sell their goods. Also, the townspeople mostly supplied the products they needed from the caravanserai and the shops around it.
