Zarrab khan (Sarrafkhan) caravanserai
Iravan until 1828, Erevan from 1828 to 1936.
Yerevan since 1936.
Architecture
In 1926, the Zarrab Khan caravanserai, which was damaged in the earthquake, was put on poles to prevent it from collapsing. In the following years, the caravanserai and the shops around it were demolished by Armenians because they were rich in elements reflecting the historical period belonging to Azerbaijanis.
The Zarrab Khan (Sarrafkhan) caravanserai located in Old Iravan was one of the 20 caravansaries that existed in the city towards the end of the 19th century. Carvanserai built of stone, with square shaped squares in the middle and pools of water were considered among the most beautiful buildings of Iravan. In the photos presented in the sources of 1926-27, it is seen that the walls of the caravanserai were supported by poles.
The presence of a large number of carts and shops of various origins in the courtyard of the caravanserai indicates that the caravanserai was the place where most of the merchants from long distances stayed.
